Comment here to be friended

the_spdn will be little different from other newsletters because we will also be linking to locked posts. Unless you don't want us to, that is. This is how it will work.
prairie_team will friend you in order to watch your journal for posts. Nothing will be posted at
prairie_team, so you yourself don't need to watch this journal. You have a couple of choices when this journal friends you:
prairie_team's flist in the future. Or you can simply leave a note at the top of your post asking not to be linked to on the newsletter.
The above only matters if you would like us to link YOUR posts to the newsletter. To watch the newsletter, you only have to join
the_spdn and that's it.
- Do NOT friend the journal back. This way only public posts of yours will be linked in the newsletter.
- DO friend the journal back.
prairie_team will then be able to see your locked posts, and will link them in the newsletter. Just remember, the editors will then be able to see *all* your locked posts. The editors will only be scanning for Doctor/Rose related material, and believe us when we say we've got plenty to do instead of reading a personal post about your Aunt May's fight with her neighbor's dog. But if you're uncomfortable with the idea of the editors seeing your private posts, you can always leave the journal unfriended. This way, editors will only be able to see and link to your public entries.

Welcome to

What is
the_spdn?
the_spdn is a Doctor/Rose (Doctor Who) newsletter. The purpose of
the_spdn is to help Doctor/Rose fans keep in touch and easily find discussions, fic, graphics, and other related posts. Any posts that the newsletter links to will relate to the Doctor/Rose pairing.
Since much of the discussion of Doctor/Rose occurs in flocked posts these days,
the_spdn will be linking to posts that are locked. Any locked post will be noted. If you would like to be able to read a locked post, we suggest you leave a polite comment for the original poster (OP) in their journal (not here) asking to be friended. Some posters want to keep a tight rein on their friends list, for various reasons, so we ask that you be respectful and understanding about this.
How do I see the newsletter?
For the time being, anyone can join or watch this community. We ask that everyone be respectful in any discussions they find via
the_spdn. If you feel a discussion merits the attention of an editor, please use the Letter to the Editor post. This newsletter was created to facilitate the networking of shippers, so if this service is being abused, please be sure to let us know.
How often does the newsletter publish?
We currently post three times a week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The newsletter may be published more frequently if the intertubes become more active with Doctor/Rose discussion.
I am a Doctor/Rose fan and I would like my posts linked to by
the_spdn!
If you would like to be added to our reading list, you will need to leave a comment on the sign up post at
prairie_team. Once we receive your request to be linked, we will friend your journal. If you want to grant us access to your flocked Doctor/Rose content, you will need to friend
prairie_team back.
I don’t want anyone but my Flist seeing my flocked posts!!
No problem. Even if
the_spdn links to your flocked post, only the people you have friended will be able to read it. It will be your decision whether you would like to allow someone new to view it.
But I don’t want you to link to my flocked posts, either!
Again, no problem. The only way the editors of
the_spdn will be able to see your flocked posts is if you friend our reading journal at
prairie_team. If you would like us to link to public content, but not locked content, just do not friend
prairie_team.
the_spdn will not have access to any locked content without your consent.
the_spdn may still link to any public posts you make concerning the Doctor/Rose relationship. If you would rather not have your public posts linked, just let us know via this post at
prairie_team. You may also leave a note at the top of any particular post indicating that you do not want it linked.
What will you link to? What won’t you link to?
The posts we link to must be related to the Doctor/Rose relationship. Any discussion, meta, humor, graphics, or anything else related to the Doctor/Rose relationship can be linked.
We will not link to stories that feature pairings other than Doctor/Rose, unless Doctor/Rose is the focus of the fic. We will not link to stories featuring threesomes. We will only link to fic that has full header information. You must include at least the following information: Title, Author, Pairing, Rating, and Summary. We also appreciate if people provide spoiler warnings, especially if the work contains spoilers for the most recent episodes.
We will not link to posts that abuse, disparage, or otherwise knock down a character or a fellow fan, even if the post has Doctor/Rose content. We're trying to keep things civil and positive as much as possible, so we will use our judgment in linking to posts.
Why a Doctor/Rose newsletter?
We love everything Doctor/Rose! We want to make it easy for Doctor/Rose fans to find each other and enjoy their ship! With the
the_spdn, we'll be able to have fic, meta, picspams, and so on in one place.
What does SPDN stand for? And why are there prairie dogs everywhere??
SPDN stands for Shippy Prairie Dog Network, which started out as an inside joke to reference how many Doctor/Rose shippers had gone underground. Imagine strings of connected journals with locked content as sort of prairie dog intertubes. ;)
Just who are you?
the_spdn is edited by a group of fans of the Doctor/Rose pairing. We invite anyone with further questions to leave us a comment either through the Letter to the Editor post or via email. We understand that you might not feel comfortable opening flocked posts to someone without knowing who they are, and we’d be glad to talk with you privately.
